This keto tortilla chip recipe is my favorite because Taco Tuesday isn’t complete without tortilla chips. They are crunchy, crisp, and you go well with delicious dippings like salsa, guacamole, or queso.
Today, I’m going to show you this simple keto tortilla chip recipe to make this savory snack you can enjoy guilt-free!
Are Tortilla Chips Keto friendly?
Normally tortilla chips are not keto friendly because they are high in carbs and made from flour or corn. However, when we prepare them with low carb ingredients we can make a healthier version that works with the keto lifestyle. Like anything, we do need to be reasonable with the portions we choose.
Here we’re going to use almond flour for our tortilla chips to make them keto friendly because it has a lower carb count than corn or flour. This recipe is also grain-free and gluten-free.

Bonus tips for this Keto Tortilla Chip Recipe
1. Almond flour: There are two types of almond flour: blanched and almond meal. While both kinds are suitable for making keto-friendly tortillas, the blanched type is the best. It has a lighter texture and makes it easy to fry extra crispy tortillas.
2. Mozzarella Cheese: Avoid using other kinds of shredded cheese because they have higher fat content and will give your chips a greasy finish.
3. Spices: Add flavors to enhance the taste. Salt, paprika, pepper, cumin, and garlic powder work great!
4. Xanthan gum: This is an optional ingredient if looking for something to replace gluten. Almond flour is gluten-free so adding a little xanthan gum will create a similar sticky feeling as gluten.
How Many Tortilla Chips Can You Have on Keto?
These keto tortilla chips have a low carb content with only 3g net carbs per serving. By comparison, regular tortilla chips pack a whopping 15-20g a serving. However, I recommend that you only eat a couple of servings at a time to stay under your daily carb count.
How to Store Keto Tortilla Chips
If you aren’t eating the tortilla chips right away store them in an airtight container. They should remain fresh and crisp for a few days, but if you want to keep them even longer you can store them in a freezer. They should last a week or longer.
If they lose their crispness reheat the chips in an oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees
Can You Buy Keto Tortilla Chips?
There are a number of products on the market that claim to be keto-friendly tortilla chips. However, they are too high in net carbs to be keto-friendly. They count each small one-ounce bag as 8 servings!
For example, one brand claims to have only 3 net carbs but this is per serving with 8 servings in a small one-ounce bag. This means this small bag has 24 net carbs!
My Favorite Keto Crackers: Fat Snax Almond Flour Crackers
If you’re looking for some keto-friendly chips I recommend Fat Snax Almond Flour Crackers because they only have 3 net carbs per serving and a bag is 2 servings.
Otherwise, this keto tortilla recipe really is your best option.
